Hi,
I am a 59 year old white male. Out of a large number of males in my family, my brother (70) was the only one who has received a diagnosis of cancer and they are currently "watching" it, taking no action. Other than that, no one else has been diagnosed.
For me, my PSA has fluctuated between 1.7 and 3.8 over the 10+ years the doctor has been checking. 6 weeks ago is was 4.1 and then jumped to 5.3 with a test taken last week. I do have an enlarged prostate (I'm not sure the size but I am taking flomax to help me pee) and when he did the DRE 6 weeks ago he said it was fine (smooth).
Any thoughts on the reason for the rise?
Oh, the day of the exam it was very hot, 90+, and I walked to the site (about 25 minutes), arrived very hot and sweaty, possibly dehydrated. Don't know if that affects anything, just wanted to be a precise as possible.
Thanks
