On March 31 of this year I had minor surgery on my top back gums. They shaved my bones down to get me ready for a top denture. Well the dentist never gave my antibiotics only pain meds. About a week after surgery I got an enlarged lymph node in my neck which stayed about a week a slowly went away and another on came under my chin. The dentist told me he didn't see an infection that's why he didn't give me antibiotics. Every other dentist I have gone to always gives antibiotics after minor surgery. So the questions is, it normal for lymph nodes to swell after dental surgery and do most dentist prescribe antibiotics after this surgery. I have to go back for more work but I'm thinking about changing dentist. I did go back for a follow up and he prescribed antibiotics.
