non ovarian cyst????help...

In March I had an MRI performed of my lumbar and pelvic regions for arthritis – ordered by my rheumatologist. MRI found: There is a 6.1 x 4.8 x 5.86 cystic right adnexal mass with a nonnodular enhancing rim. The enhancing rim appears slightly thicker medially on the axial images (series 20 image 9) measuring up to 5 mm. The rest of the rim is
approximately 2 mm. No internal septations are seen. The cystic lesion contents are intermediate to low signal on T1-weighted images and hyperintense on the fluid sensitive sequences. There is no definite mass or adenopathy elsewhere within the pelvis. There is no evidence of ascites.

Had two internal and external sonograms within ONE week of the MRI. BOTH WERE NORMAL. There were gas bubbles on the right. The cyst was there, but NOT PICKED UP ON SONOGRAM.

In April the MRI was performed again – it found: there is a rounded 5.0 cm AP by 5.0 cm transverse by 4.6 cm craniocaudad smooth bordered rounded structure in the right adnexal region it demonstrates fluid signal characteristics, with no evidence of any enhancement after contrast administration, most likely representing an ovarian cyst. There is some fluid present within the endometrial canal within the uterus and endocervical canal.

Internal and external sonogram performed in July. NORMAL SONOGRAM. There was a gas bubble on the right. STILL UNABLE TO VISUALIZE ANY CYST.

Is an Exploratory laparoscopy warranted? Why is the (OVARIAN) cyst not showing up on sonogram – EVEN WITHIN A WEEK AFTER FIRST MRI? IT WAS STILL THERE A MONTH LATER ON MRI.
