Hello,
I have some severe anxiety especially centered around my phobia of throwing up and sickness. My fear has gotten so bad recently to the point where I hear people talking about not feeling well or begin to panic when my completely healthy family members spend too long in the bathroom, so I finally decided to get help after having this fear for about 7 years.
My doctor started me on 10mg of Lexapro. I took one pill yesterday about 10 minutes after I ate breakfast, but about 20 minutes after I took it I began to feel intense nausea, heartburn, lightheadedness, and coldness/hotness. I suffer from IBS so I tried to convince myself it was just an IBS attack since I was tired and these symptoms aren't completely uncommon for me. I got to work and felt sicker and sicker until I threw up! I never throw up without a good reason, so it had to be the pill (and I felt just fine after...but I can't deal with going through all that again!).
Now I am absolutely terrified of taking another pill! I called my doctor and she gave me some options:
1. Don't take any more (I like this idea) but it is a while before my next appointment and I really want to get some relief from anxiety!
2. Split the pill in half (if I was going to take the pill again I would definitely do this).
3. Take the pill 30 minutes after eating instead of 10 (I don't see how this is gonna help).
4. Take it right before bed (all I see is me waking up to throw up...yikes!!!)
I am really scared, and because I am so scared to take it I feel like I won't be able to make the right decision for me. My doctor says it is up to me, but I would appreciate some advice! This anxiety medicine didn't even get into my system and I already feel like it has done more harm than good.
