My sister has liver cancer. She had chemo, got better and took herself off of the treatment because her minister told her she was healed. Our plans once were that once she was given an OK from her doctor to travel, she come and live with me until she could get on her own and I would help her continue with chemo, etc.
Now she is worse than before (lives in Puerto Rico). She finally got back to the doctor and they are going for her first treatment. The MD says that treatments will be more severe. She has:
- stomach is very swollen (looks she is pregnant)
- eyes are yellow
- loss of appetite
- swollen legs
- tired and sleep
- had be taken to emergency room for morphine to ease the pain
I am so worried because her 3 children don't take good care of her but I have no where to stay where she lives, and now she can't come to live with me, like we planned. I have told her to contact social services and Medicare to find out what her options.
I don't know what to do at this stage.
My question is: Can she get better or should I start preparing for the worse?
