Lump at top of incision has moved and is sore.

I am 5 months post op. Posterior interbody fusion with hardware at L4-5 to correct scoliosis, spondyloslisthesis, and laminectomy to release pressure on nerve roots. (I don't have the Dr. report at hand right now so I can't detail.) Anyway, the incision was completely healed on the outside at 6 weeks post op, but I had a little lump at the top of the incision site. In the past week, I've noticed more pain than usual, but it wasn't at the L4-5 area. I looked in the mirror to see if there was any redness or swelling back there because the pain seemed a little higher up. The lump that was at the top of the incision has now moved from the top to the right side of the incision line. Is this unusual? Should I call my surgeon's office to ask? I hate to go running to the doctor for every little thing since I haven't been able to work since surgery. Just wondered if anyone else has had this experience.
