Okay so about 3 weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night with severe stomach pain. My upper abdomen was seriously bloated and I had lots of gas. I couldn't have a bowel movement and I felt like I was going to vomit but couldn't. On top of all that my back was also hurting underneath my right shoulder blade. I assumed it was gas and constipation from my IBS that occasionally flares up so I took some magnesium citrate to clear my system. After a few good bowel movements I felt better. About a week and a half later work up at night again with same symptoms. I was on vacation so I needed a quick fix, back to the citrate and I was fine within a few hours. This morning I woke up again with the same pain however it's changed a bit. Now the right side of my abdomen hurts more than the upper part. Still lots of gas and feeling of vomiting. However this time I have taken a laxative and had a bowel movement and the pain is still there in my upper right abdomen and back. I also learned that heat helps the pain. So here is my problem. I don't have a primary care provider. I'm in a lot of pain. I can go to ER and hope they help, I can go to the urgent care and hope they help. Or I can make an appt with a family doctor sometime in the next couple weeks see them have them give me a referral and wait a couple more weeks to see a GI doctor. I don't know what to do? I want the pain the go away but I also want to get to the bottom of this problem. What would you all do? Thanks
ER or no?
