Can't squat, deadlift, or lunge

I'm extremely frustrated by this, because I have been working out for several years now - and I STILL struggle with basic exercises like squats and lunges.

I see a trainer who keeps having me do these workouts. and every single time, I do them incorrectly. I struggle with going low enough, and I struggle with keeping my back straight and not leaning forward too much. But to me, doing these exercises without leaning forward feels like a physical impossibility. How on earth are you supposed to do these things while arching your back like he's instructing me to do? Even when I consciously try to arch my back - even if I'm giving it my absolute *best* - my trainer says I'm not improving. And when my trainer how badly I am struggling with this, he just says "Well that's because you never go low enough" which doesn't help me because THAT'S what I'm having trouble with. In other words, his advice is "just do it."

In the time that I have seen this trainer, I have not once heard him tell me I did it properly. So as far as I am aware, in 2 years, I have never performed one lunge or squat properly.

I have done my research about why I can't do this and all I could find was that maybe my hip flexors are too tight. So, last year, I started doing more psoas stretches, and more stretching in general. Maybe every other day I do these stretches. Everywhere I read, said that my flexibility should improve in a few weeks or so.... but it's been a whole year at least, and nothing has improved.

Is it possible that some people shouldn't be doing these exercises at all? Is there any other reason why I may be struggling as bad as I am with this?
