Hi all,
This has some some overlap with foot/leg pain, but I will start with posting here.
For about 4-5 months I've had some severe issues that seem to be related to my lower back. I've been to multiple doctors with no luck - hoping for a different viewpoint or ideas for who to visit next. Any help or ides provided are appreciated. I can't exercise or walk with my boyfriend or anything (running is my great love in life). It's so frustrating and depressing and the Kaiser doctors seem to be out of ideas.
Symptoms:
Lower back pain in a band just above my butt. Much worse on left side.
Constant numbness/tingling in my left toes all the time
When I walk or hike or run more than 10-15 minutes, the tingling/numbness turns to very bad pain in my feet, worsened by footwear (closer to barefoot, the longer the pain takes to onset)
Surges of the same pain in my toes sometimes when I walk or stand up that come from nowhere and fade quickly
About me:
Gluten free vegetarian
What I do know:
I have arthritis in my lower back according to an MRI. The doctors do not think this is the issue, but I'm not sure.
6 years ago, I fell off of a horse onto my lower back. Fairly sure I broke my tailbone at least. Therapist not sure if the triangle part of the lower spine is working properly with L4/L5. (sorry - forgot the name of that)
I had blood work done with nothing out of bed.
I had nerve tests done - nerves all seem healthy.
When the therapist gives me a lower back massage - it feels crunchy/crinkly. Something not right in that area.
Swelling or something in the lower back area
There was a period where my back was extremely numb and tingly, though that is sporadic
What I've tried:
Abdominal exercise to help support lower back muscles
Pilates and strengthening
Addition of B12, B1, Calcium, Magnesium, and multivitamins to my diet.
Soon to be tried:
I will by trying acupuncture soon
I am going to start icing my lower back 5 minutes of every hour
Would love ideas. Thanks in advance.
