3 Months Post Op from Brostrom

Hello all!

I am coming up on the 3 month mark from what was a very extensive Brostrom on my right ankle. I have been in a cam walker, weight bearing, for 5 weeks (after an eternity in a cast), and last week began the lovely process of weaning out of the boot. Last week, I was allowed 2 hours out of the boot, and this week I am allowed 4 hours out. While I am glad to have this time to "air out," it has not been a pleasant experience AT ALL. I don't know how on earth I am supposed to stay out of the boot for 4 hours, when I can barely make it when I'm out for 2 hours. If you all have any suggestions about how to make this process easier, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, during my 3 months in a splint/cast/boot while recovering, the arch on my right foot has completely flattened (which makes shoes UNBEARABLE). Is this a normal thing that I should expect? Per my surgeon's orders, I am not to start any sort of PT and proprioceptive training for another 4 weeks, when I am hopefully out of the boot for good. If this flat arch is a normal side effect, will PT help combat it?

Sorry for so many questions!
