Polyneuropathy...would new med allow me to walk a mile

I've had RA and other immune related problems for over 20 years. for the past 2 years or so, I've been off balance, falling and after walking just a couple of blocks the pain in my legs and arms have been severe and I end up in bed for a couple of days from the pain in my legs and arms....the fatigue, but i'm used to that from the RA (that's a lie, you never get used to the fatigue) . The pain continued at night having to stay in bed for days from the severe pain in my legs and arms,...along with cold then hot. Dropping everything, but RA has done that to my joints. doctor ordered a head MRI that came back with a scar in the white something or other....sent me to a neurologist and he thinks it was a mini stroke. because of the off balance, falling and leg/arm pain he did a nerve test. came back with Polyneuropathy.

he put me on Gabapentin 300mg twice a day. he says while viewing my med list that I take too many. He questioned my prozac, clonopen, seroquel and lunesta....wants me to ask my psychiotrist if we can cut something back. I'm surprised a neurologist would question taking seroquel if I'm bipolar. but i'll talk to my doctor and primary about that. Plus I'm on methotrexate and remicade infusion for my RA.

My question for those that deal with the polyneuropathy or neuropothy, would this new med allow me to walk long distances and not end up in bed for 3 days from the pain? My husband and I are retired...we love to camp with our motor home and cruise at least once a year. Would I be able to make the long walk from the ship to the end of the pier wich seems to get longer every time I go, or would I have to consider using a travel wheelchair to avoid the walking? Our son is taking us on a cruise next month and it's on one of the largest ships (Allure) and just getting to the restaurant can be a 3 block walk...feels like a mile to me. In other words....is the medication going to allow me to walk a half mile without any results of pain and no need for wheelchair? or should I consider getting a light travel wheelchair and using one...I'm pretty stubborn and try to do too much then making myself worse. sorry for the long post...thanks for your help
